OK, yes, well, Ricky Knight is cycling to Paris – and I know you’re all jealous ……. I s’pose when he was asked, he got hooked and now he has seen the fascinating itinerary from the European Greens and the myriad NGOs involved in the build up to the talks, He just has to be there – because for once in his life, He actually can be there.
Date: 18th November
Time: 10.00 a.m.
Place: Barnstaple Square (by the Albert Clock opposite ‘Bike Shed’)
There’ll be a ‘big’ civic send-off (with the Mayor and deputy Mayor of Barnstaple and the leader of North Devon Council) and another at the old Bideford railway station at 11.30, again with civic dignitaries (the mayor of Torrington, the Mayor of Bideford and the leader of Torridge District Council). The paparazzi will be everywhere – and let’s face it, the whole point of the exercise is to gain publicity. As such, how cool would it be if as many of you as possible could perhaps mount your bikes and join them for part of the journey?
They be meeting up with other supporters from West Devon and Plymouth GPs on the way down to Plymouth. Although those taking part (four of them so far – two from Cornwall, one from Devon and one from Somerset) are Greens, the actual petition we are delivering to several high-profile dignitaries in Paris (including our very own Molly Scott Cato, SW Green MEP) is an anglican/ecumenical ‘Climate Vision’ initiative, emanating from Truro Cathedral.
